The Master's Degree in Physics of Complex Systems organized by IFISC at the Universitat de les Illes Balears is now open for registration.

The Master's Degree in Physics of Complex systems is now open for registration for the course 2016-2017. This master is an official degree offered by the Universitat de les Illes Balears in collaboration with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas and organized by the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary and Complex Systems (IFISC). It lasts one year (60 ECTS) and it is entirely taught in English by IFISC’s researchers. More information can be found at the web address https://ifisc.uib-csic.es/master.

The master provides the tools to face complex issues from an interdisciplinary point of view with a strong mathematical basis. In particular students receive specialized training in complex systems in statistical and nonlinear physics; nonlinear optics; quantum physics and dynamics of optoelectronic devices; fluid dynamics; biological physics and non-linear in ecology and physiology phenomena and dynamics of collective phenomena in social systems. Given this,

Scientifically orientated, the master is an excellent training to face a PhD in any related subject. Furthermore, it provides skills and knowledge very relevant in various professional fields such as information and communications technologies, electronics, financial and urban planning, big data, energy, environmental and pharmaceutical sector realms amongst others.

The Institute for Cross-Disciplinary and Complex Systems offers four grants of 6,000€ each one to cover mobility and residence costs and, additionally, the exemption of payment of registration fees. The instructions to apply are on the web page (https://ifisc.uib-csic.es/master/fellowships/). The grants will be informed by email to the applicants on the 1st of July.

The acedemic year 2016-17 will be the fouth edition of the Master in Physics of Complex Systems which is open to students world-wide. Past editions were attended by students form several european countries and from the United States. Classes are scheduled to start on October 1st.
